Mission

What is the purpose of the Mushpatch?
Well, the Mushpatch was created out of boredom by a 13 year old Pompi. It was a website where I could present my developing art. It eventually became a place where people could learn the little things with CGing, but it's primary purpose is simply to house my art. That's all... :P

The History of the Mushpatch

The mushroom patch began humbly at http://patch.topcities.com, but I was banned for some unknown reason from Topcities. Either that or the server was really messed up, but I highly doubt that. The name came to me one night while I was half-asleep. As much as I disliked the taste of mushrooms, (at that time), I found the little fungus thingies in my 7th grade science book really cute. There were interesting pictures of them, especially the fairies' circle. It was just awesome. I then researched some fungus on the web, especially at MycoWeb. Well, basically, the name hit me at a random time; I know not when or where that was. I spent an insanely long time designing my first layout with MS Frontpage and looking for a good webhost. It was terrible and my host choice was just as bad. Soon after a couple of months, I got the really nifty URL redirection http://mushpatch.2ya.com, but I didn't make good use of it until later. Honestly, I thought it would get rid of the banner ads at Topcities, but I misread the terms or something. It was just a URL redirection without ads. It's a pretty reliable thingy though~ I'm glad I misread that stuff.

Anyways, after getting kicked out of Topcities, I was hosted at http://nighami.net/pompi, but I had to leave since the prices rose and the hostess couldn't host people anymore. (Drat. I didn't even get a chance to upload anything.) SO! I went through a WHOLE bunch of free hosting sites without ads and enough space. Well, that was definitely terrible. I don't even remember how many sites I signed up for and abandoned after feeling unsatisfied with the service.

Then I discovered http://freewebs.com. It was really good for the first month or so. Then I eventually discovered a file limit (which, mind you, wasn't mentioned at all). Then I had to rely on http://photobucket.com. Somewhere around August 2oo4, I changed the layout and forgot to add the thing that says "This site is hosted by Freewebs (blahblah)" and my site was deleted. (Hahaha~ XD)

Then after another long while of searching again for a new host, I found a super nice person to host me~ (Thanks Kandi)! I only get 20MB but that's okay since there were no ads. BUT Photobucket decided to update and decided to give me only 20MB for storage. That was terrible. I had already gone over 20MB before they decided to put this limit. So I had to delete a couple of pics and things so there were bajillions of broken links and I had to compress many of my pics more. So I have a new storage thing http://imagecave.com, but it only has 10MB. O_o; I sure use a lot of space.

Then, on January 25, 2oo5, Kandi kindly visited my site and she gave me more space!~~~~ (Horray!) I now was able to upload my images on the regret-less server! I even decided that I could make HTML pages for the newer images. Even Yumble was uploaded back to the regret-less server! Unfortunately, the seperate pages for each image didn't last long. I felt bad, and I kept using up more and more space, I eventually had to take the pages down. (Don't worry! One day, I'll have enough cash to buy my own domain and server or something. Then, I can use all the space I want!)

Yumble then broke off from the Mushpatch again, and then transformed into a doujin-circle of sorts.

Suddenly, photobucket decided to give me more space again!
On June 6, 2oo7, the Mushpatch gallery went through a clean up. It was getting kinda full with old art...

So now, here it is, the Mushpatch... thriving since June 14, 2oo3.

Previous Layouts

Go, Joe! ver8.0
This layout is probably the most complicated one I ever made. I used div layers and tried out some newly learned css and php. The image I drew for this was quite simple. It shows a hint of my developing "painterly" CG style. Nothing super-special about this one. I wasn't able to get a new layout for the new year, so this was up from June 14, 2oo6 until June 13th, 2oo7. One whole year, yessir.

Crackers and Crumbs ver7.0
This could possibly be the worst layout, besides the first one. It's so simple, so boring, so lame. It just doesn't look interesting enough. I dub this, the most boring Mushpatch layout ever created! Simply made up of a lame two-row table, this was up from January 2nd until June 13th, 2oo6.

Mm mushroom ver6.0
I used tables again. It was pretty good, since I was able to match the layout with Yumble's layout. It looked cool for a while, but after It was just too yellow for me. It was up for six months too, from June 19, 'o5 to January 1st 2oo6. Starting the new year with a new layout it just dandy. I think I'll change the layout on the anniversary (or not if I feel lazy hahah.)

Wet ver5.0
I made tables for this layout. I had fun putting all the lines on the picture. It worked pretty well With the table~ It's very blue and rainy; good for those winter-y days... even though it was up during spring and part of summer but oh well. Put up 'til January 21, 2oo5 to July 5th 2oo5. That's like 6 months! OoO;

Bang Bang! ver4.0
Due to its simplicity, you can tell that it was definitely coded by me. This didn't take that much work, same with the art. I was satisfied with it though since it worked well in most browzer sizes. I liked it being simple too. This was up for several months: August 18, 2oo4 'til January 21, 2oo5. WOW! XD

Under the Clouds ver3.0
A layout entirely coded by me, but it seems to be similar to Jamuko's layout. T_T

Mushroom Patch ver2.1
The same layout by Jamuko with a new pic. ^^; Lazy me...

Mushroom Patch ver2.0
A layout made by the most awesome Jamuko-sama!! It's waaay too kewl. I had no clue how to make a good layout so I asked her to make one for me. You must LOVE Jamuko~ She's just too kewl.

FIRST...LAYOUT...EVER!! ver1
The splash page is really kewl but after that it's a really terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE layout. Made with Frontpage and some HTML. What do you expect from me? It was my first time! T__T (The layout pic changed from time to time.)

Frequently Asked Questions

Who is Pompi?
I am who I am. When I become a better artist, I might actually put my real name up. For now, just check out the profile section.

Can you draw me something?
For free? No, sorry. Unless you're a friend or a family member, I usually won't take requests. It's not that I don't want to draw you something, it's just that I'm usually busy with school and other tasks, and I don't have enough time to do these. Yes, I sort of have a life.

Then do you do commissions?
Yes, I do! Please commission me; I'd be honored. Just head over to the commissions page for details.

What are you capable of drawing?
I generally draw anime/manga style, but I am capable of drawing decent realism. The only problem is that I don't put these up on my website because I forget to take a picture. They also take plenty of time to complete...

If you're so good, why does your gallery suck?
Well, I wouldn't consider myself very good. I'm still a developing artist, and my gallery is lacking simply because I hardly make any finished products. Most of the works in my gallery are somewhat old. I hardly have the time, patience, or the drive even, to make a wonderful finished work. It just takes me too long. I am still trying to find my motivation as I continue my improvement.

If you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail me and ask.
